Okra Detail
Crop Detail Okra or ladies finger which is also known as Bhindi is one of the important vegetables of India. It is grown throughout the tropical, sub-tropical region and also in the warmer parts of temperate region. There is an appalling gap between potential yields and actual yields of Okra vegetable harvested by farmers. For most vegetable crops, yields realized are less than 50% of potential. Optimum crop performance is usually limited by inadequate availability of essential nutrients in the soil and fertilizer is one of the most important inputs contributing to crop production because it increases productivity and improves yield quantity and quality. Increase in the productivity calls for better crop husbandry including the use of optimum rate of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Major constraint to get higher productivity is still the limited use of mineral fertilizers especially phosphorus and potassium due to availability and cost. |
